The Prayer Life.

I’m a slow reader. I’ve been working through one book titled “Glocalization” since this past spring. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the material, I’m learning a lot. I’m just a slow reader. Recently I was given another book to read titled “Walking With God” by John Eldredge (Wild At Heart, Captivating, et al). It’s a great book. Best of all he actually encourages you to work slowly through it. Not to rush through it. It would be easy to because his writing style is so conversational. And that’s the whole point. Eldredge proposes a conversational approach to our relationship with God. Simply put it’s prayer. Prayer that continues with out ceasing. Prayer that responds moment by moment. Prayer that speaks to the variety of decisions and situations we may face throughout the day.
This past week Mike talked about a plan for your prayer life. I’m curious. What’s your approach?
In the past I’ve been more of a designated pray-er. Setting aside time specifically to pray and usually leaving it at that. As I’ve begun to work through Eldredge’s book I’ve become more of a spontaneous pray-er. I need to improve in praying with others more spontaneously. And I’m working on that.
How about you?
